SUMMARY:Webinar: Crowdfunding - more than funding
DESCRIPTION:Presenter: John A. Mathew\nOrganisation: Impact Innovation Group \nJohn A. Mathew is an entrepreneur and University of Queensland doctoral candidate. \nHis biomedical research and pharmacology background prompted a keen interest in how Australia’s biotechnology sector could accelerate growth. \nThe focus of John’s thesis has been understanding and analysing the process of crowdfunding and applying its potential in Australia. \nWhile conducting his research John has worked on creating\, refining and running crowdfunding campaigns for Brisbane companies\, as well as with their executives to personalise their campaigns and maximise the crowdfunding process. His approach to crowdfunding has created tangible value for Australian companies at all stages of the commercialisation process. \nPrior to his postgraduate studies\, John spent more than five years working in public health and technology roles\, building unique experience in patient care\, hospital administration\, clinical data management\, administrative protocols and developing commercialisation pathways for medical devices and technologies. \nTOPIC \nCrowdfunding has been gaining traction in the media as the next opportunity for great ideas to get funded by the public. We are literally spoilt for choice by the number of online platforms and informative blogposts telling us how to make it big. \nJohn’s doctoral thesis focuses on crowdfunding for Australian biotechnology. Over the course of his research he has worked with several Australian-based organisations\, discovering the underlying factors that make crowdfunding campaigns successful. \nIn this webinar\, John will share his experiences in preparing and running crowdfunding campaigns in an Australian ecosystem and explain why funding is only part of the story. \n
