Presenter: Scott Linden Jones
Organisation: Easy Offshore

Scott Linden Jones is an Australian entrepreneur with roots in the technology sector. His first enterprise in IT services was started 2002 at the age of 24. He subsequently built a cloud platform before the word “cloud” was used in IT, co-developed an ERP software solution, created a specialist recruitment firm, established a global-resourcing consultancy, and founded an incubation staffing facility in the Philippines.

Over the past years in business Scott has spent a lot of time researching worldwide labour markets. This lead to his book release in 2012 on how the evolution of global resourcing is permanently changing the nature of business. https://www.amazon.com/The-Third-Wave-Micro-globalism-employment/dp/1482088231/

Australia has quietly developed a two-speed economy due to offshoring. There are those who have implemented white-collar offshoring effectively at all layers of their business. These are on average 3x more profitable and have enormous competitive advantage compared to those who are ignorant of skilled offshoring, or have implemented it poorly. These multi-shore businesses often have new global export opportunities when they become unshackled from purely Australian labour costs, potentially allowing the growth of high-end jobs in Australia.

New generation businesses are not stuck with the legacy of having to implement offshoring – they are now being created from start-up with a multi-shore model. These factors are leading us to the point where a large number of traditional businesses will become rapidly unviable unless they rush to offshore and try to drop their costs. With a 50% failure rate with offshoring, rushing it is likely to lead to poor outcomes.

This webinar will discuss why broad offshoring is occurring in all sized businesses, why it is usually not “outsourcing” at the heart of the change, but rather newer models of offshore team staffing.
